  • Job Title: Operator for bulk carriers
  • Reports to: Operations Manager
  • Location: Athens - GR
  • Job Summary: Full responsibility for the operation and professional handling of a number of Bulk Carrier vessels

main responsibilities

  • Processing voyage instructions and monitoring voyage proceeds as per Charter Party requirements.
  • Preparing the Baltic Exchange questionnaires Baltic Q99 and the TCD in cooperation with Technical Department and Marine Department
  • Monitoring voyage routes of each vessel, in compliance with Charterers’ requirements, for
    ensuring their efficient execution, in line with Company’s Procedures. Follow up the noon, arrival and departure reports
  • Advising Ship Masters of C/P terms and on the charterers voyage instructions. Provide the masters
    with the necessary guidelines on the proper executions of the charter parties
  • Maintain updated the vessels’ relevant questionnaires in direct cooperation with Technical and
    Marine, HSQEE Departments
  • Collecting and processing voyage documents, (time sheet, letters of protest,
    notice of readiness, discharging / loading performance and other documents as provided for by
    Cargo Operations & Handling Manuals)
  • Following up the tanks cleaning process and ship’s preloading preparation
  • Claims experience for handling the same in case of damages
  • Laytime calculations
  • Freight and Hire calculations
  • Monitoring of the port calls and updating the data in the modules of port calls and operations of BENEFIT ERP
  • Arranging for the agents for Husbandry matters and controlling the relevant DAs

desired skills & experience

  • Educated to degree level either from Marine Academy or University
  • Minimum 3 years of dry bulk experience in a similar position with the same range of duties and responsibilities
  • Teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Office and Operations ERP systems) Knowledge of Benefit ERP, will be an asset
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Fluent in Greek, English proficiency level
