Data Engineer / Αθήνα

A technology company based in Athens, is seeking for a Data Engineer.

About the Role

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and managing the data architecture, pipelines, and systems that enable data acquisition, storage, processing, and analysis within the organization.

Integrating various data sources (including PIM, ERP, and BI systems), and transforming raw data into actionable insights.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, IT, Data Science, and Business Intelligence, to ensure smooth data operations and empower data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Provide software solutions to achieve digital transformation through the usage of Big Data and ML-powered Analytics.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with our data science team to help build complex algorithms that provide unique insights into our data.
• Develop models that can be used to make predictions and answer questions for the overall business.
• Analyzing data patterns and recommending changes to existing business processes based on the findings.
• Build and optimize data models and schemas for efficient storage and retrieval of data.
• Design and build custom applications that extract, transform and load data from various sources into databases or other data stores.
• Create reports and presentations that visualize data using tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) or Power BI.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to ensure data integrity, reliability, and performance..
• Document data pipelines, processes, and solutions to ensure knowledge sharing and maintainability.
• Testing and debugging packages to ensure they function properly before deployment.
• Analyzing data patterns and recommending changes to existing business processes based on the findings.
• Writing scripts in languages such as SQL, C#, Java, or Python to automate complex tasks.
• Designing and developing data transformation solutions using SSIS components such as Data Flow Task, Data Flow transform tasks, Data Flow containers, Foreach Loop containers, Script components, etc.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in Computer Science or Electronics or equivalent work experience in the field of Data.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, Azure Data Factor, PHP and Spark.
• Experience with data visualization tools, particularly PowerBI.
• Strong understanding of machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) techniques.
• Proficiency in natural language processing (NLP).
• Expertise in exploratory data analysis (EDA) techniques.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or GCP.
• Strong background in statistics.

• Excellent interpersonal, listening, negotiation, presentation skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability in decision making, problem analysis and problem solving.
• Passionate about agile software processes, data driven development, reliability, and experimentation and experience working in a collaborative Agile product team will be considered as extra assets.
