ENESEL Group based in Athens, Greece, presently operating a diverse fleet of 29 modern high specification tankers/containers and bulk carriers is currently looking for a highly motivated full-time Tanker Operator to provide support to the Operations Department of the tanker division.

All existing vessels are constructed to the highest international standards in first-class shipyards. The entire fleet is chartered to high profile charterers and operators mainly on time-charter basis.

The successful applicant is expected to have at least 3-5 years’ experience in a similar position, and good contact with TMSA3 requirements. He/she should be well experienced in integrated management systems (ISM/ISPS/ISO). Use of DANAOS Operations module is considered a distinctive advantage.

Main duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of tankers and maintain regular communication with vessel Masters, rest shore teams, and third parties such as port agents and authorities
  • Responsible for economical and timely execution of all charter parties to the satisfaction of the respective charterers
  • Review planning of the voyages ensuring that the post-fixture actions are in line with charter party terms
  • Deal with optimization opportunities, ensuring voyages are assessed and optimized for efficient and effective delivery.
  • Liaise with Charterers, review the recap and charterer’s instructions, and issue voyage specific instructions to ships as required.
  •  Convey Voyage Orders to the Masters of the vessels in accordance with instructions received
  • Ensure that the optimum cargo handling, efficient tank cleaning operation, safe loading & discharging operations and bunker optimization are being achieved on a voyage basis.
  • Monitor vessel performance and fuel consumption
  • Communicate as per voyage instructions with Agents, Brokers, Charterers and vessels to facilitate the voyage
  • Ensure all relevant systems (incl. ERP) and documentation are continuously updated with voyage related data
  • Review cargo documentation and ensure it meets all legal and commercial requirements
  • Assist with data collection for supporting cargo/performance etc claims
  • Identify operational risks and propose solutions to mitigate potential issues
  • Address any incidents or emergencies, such as cargo spillage or mechanical failure, to ensure minimal disruption to operations
  • Bunkering planning
  • Reviewing Charter Parties, BOL, LOIs
  • Update vessels questionnaires (i.e. Q88 etc)
  • Monitor quarterly KPIs reporting system
  • Draft the agenda of Operation dept. for the quarterly/annual Management Review Meetings (MRM)
  • Maintain the electronic and physical filing of the department records
  • Ensure compliance with international regulations, such as MARPOL, SOLAS, and other maritime safety and pollution prevention conventions.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with port state, flag state, and terminal requirements.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest maritime regulations and environmental legislation.
  • Prepare reports and studies as instructed from time to time by the Operations Manager and Management team.

Additional qualifications/requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in maritime studies or any other relevant university degree.
  • Fluency in English, both writing and verbally.
  • Conversant with ERP systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite, good knowledge of other professional software.
  • Tech savvy and feel comfortable using technology on daily basis.
  • Strong report writing and sound numeracy skills are requirement.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with preference for collaboration, action, accountability and developing of solutions/alternatives.
  • Capable to work under stress in emergency cases.
  • Strong ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize requirements to meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
